How to care for an upholstered sofa: complete guide by fabric
A fabric sofa lasts ten years or three years. The difference almost always comes down to maintenance.
First: read the care label
- W: water-based cleaners allowed
- S: solvent-based only, no water
- WS: both methods
- X: vacuuming only
Caring for a bouclé sofa (Retro Bliss)
Vacuum weekly, moderate suction. Blot immediately — never rub. Foam method for water-soluble stains, baking soda for greasy stains. Never hot water, bleach or hairdryer.
Retro Bliss on the Merlot and Malbec collections.
Caring for a velvet sofa (Rhythm)
Vacuum with the pile direction. Prefer dry method. Distilled water if necessary, always with the pile. Remove pile marks with steam and brush.
Rhythm velvet on Merlot, Malbec and Pinot.
Caring for woven fabric (Melody, Sorriso)
Lukewarm water with a drop of washing-up liquid, working from outside in. Melody and Sorriso on Barolo and Malbec.
Five golden rules
- Act immediately
- Never rub, always blot
- Work from outside in
- Always test on a hidden area
- Never use a hairdryer
