The chaise is generally the more comfortable lounging option because it supports the full length of the body without the ottoman shifting position, and because it is seamlessly integrated into the sofa's overall silhouette. An ottoman, however, is more flexible — it can be moved around the room and used as a coffee table with a tray on top.

Comfort Considerations

Not all chaises are equally comfortable for lying down. The depth of the chaise — the distance from the back cushion to the front edge — should be at least 90cm for a person of average height to lie with bent knees, and ideally 100-110cm to lie fully extended. The firmness of the chaise cushion matters too: a chaise that is too soft will sag uncomfortably over time; one that is too firm will feel hard when used horizontally for extended periods. How to Style a Chaise Sofa

The chaise end of a corner sofa is naturally designed for textiles.
