Caring for Your Sofa After Delivery: First Steps

Sofa-Pflege nach der Lieferung — Furni Sofa Inspiration

The first few weeks after delivery are crucial to how long your sofa will last. Here is what you should do straight away and what to keep in mind over the first few months.

The first few hours: unpacking and setting up

Remove all protective film and covers completely - any film left behind can cause mould under the fabric. Check every module for transit damage (scratches, colour differences, faulty seams). If you can see any damage, photograph it immediately and contact Furni customer service within 24 hours.

The first week: letting the cushions settle

New HR35 foam has a break-in period: at first it feels slightly firmer than it will after a few weeks of regular use. This is normal and not a defect. Use your sofa as usual - the foam will soften to its intended comfort level.

The first few months: building a care routine

Weekly: run the upholstery attachment of your vacuum cleaner over all surfaces. Plump the cushions regularly and swap them round from time to time (left to right) so they wear evenly. Fit spacers if the sofa stands very close to the wall - friction can damage the fabric on the backrest.

Letting the fabric settle in

Light fabrics (beige, sand, cream) pick up dirt slightly more easily in the first few weeks while the fibre protection settles in. Blot any stains immediately. After around 4-6 weeks, the surface behaves normally.

Follow the care code

Check the care instructions in your paperwork or on the label under the seat cushion. Furni includes a care kit with recommendations in every delivery. Do not use unapproved cleaning products - they may affect your warranty cover.
