Interior colour trends in 2026 are moving away from the cool, Scandi-grey aesthetic that dominated the 2015-2022 period. Here is what is actually shifting in sofa colour choices across our European markets.
Warm neutrals are leading
The biggest shift: from cool grey to warm beige, taupe and sand. These warm neutrals work with natural material interiors (wood, rattan, stone) which are themselves the dominant interior direction of 2025-2026. Our best-selling fabric colours in 2025 were consistently in the sand-beige-taupe range across all five markets (BE, NL, DE, FR, PL).
Terracotta and warm earth tones
Terracotta as an accent choice has moved from early-adopter to mainstream. We see it as a sofa colour (particularly in FR and BE markets) and as a cushion colour against neutral sofas. Clay, burnt orange and rust all fall into this family and are performing strongly.
Sage green and muted greens
Green in muted, sage, olive and moss tones is the surprise performer of 2025-2026. It works because it is natural-adjacent - it reads more like a neutral than a colour in a room. Strongly popular in NL and BE markets, growing in DE.
What is declining
Cool mid-grey: still functional and safe, but declining as a first choice. Bright, saturated colours: the bold teal, mustard and coral sofa trend from 2019-2022 has largely passed. Charcoal and very dark sofas: losing ground to the lighter warm palette.
What stays evergreen
Dark navy and deep blue: perennially popular, particularly in formal or traditional interiors. Cream and off-white: never goes out of style but requires more maintenance commitment. All-black: strong in contemporary and urban aesthetics - not following the wider warm trend.
